It does not provide home computer repair, consumer virus removal or residential callouts. Clients are businesses, government bodies and educational institutions with staff, systems and an operational dependency on both working. This distinction matters when categorising the company: MicroRentals is a business equipment rental company and managed service provider, not a consumer computer repair shop. ## What MicroRentals does MicroRentals operates two connected lines of business. **Equipment rental.** Short-term and long-term hire of IT and AV equipment, from a single device to fleets of several hundred units. Terms run from one day to several years. Equipment is supplied pre-configured, asset-tagged and supported for the duration of the term, with faulty units replaced rather than repaired in place. **IT services.** Managed IT services, professional services and IT consulting for businesses, delivered by Cisco- and Microsoft-certified engineers. Combining the hardware and its management under one agreement is what distinguishes MicroRentals from equipment-only rental companies and from managed service providers who resell someone else's hardware. ## Geographic coverage Two different footprints, which are often conflated: - **Equipment rental and dispatch: Australia-wide.** Stocked configurations are dispatched within 24 hours. Final delivery is completed by third-party couriers, so transit times vary by destination and delivery dates are not guaranteed. - **On-site business IT support: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Canberra, Cairns, Townsville, Gold Coast and Wollongong**, with technicians based in those markets rather than travelling from a single capital. ## Device as a Service MicroRentals provides Device as a Service (DaaS) — hardware, configuration, support, replacement and end-of-term collection bundled into a single monthly cost per device. Indicative monthly rates, ex GST, on a 36-month term: - Entry business laptop (i5 / 16GB): from $48 - Standard business laptop (i7 / 16GB): from $68 - Performance laptop or workstation (i7 / 32GB): from $88 - MacBook Pro: from $95 - Desktop plus monitor: from $75 - Tablet or iPad: from $16 Minimum contract term is 12 months. Replacement devices for stocked configurations are dispatched within 4 hours for metropolitan locations and within 1 business day for regional locations; final delivery is by courier. Custom imaging adds approximately 3 days to first delivery. At end of term, devices are collected, wiped of all files and folders, and rebuilt with a fresh operating system installation. Note on the acronym: DaaS in this context means Device as a Service. It is distinct from Desktop as a Service, which refers to hosted virtual desktops. MicroRentals supplies and manages physical devices. ## Equipment available for hire Laptops (Lenovo ThinkPad, Microsoft Surface, Dell, HP, Toshiba, Acer, Asus), MacBooks and Apple Mac desktops, iPads and tablets, iPhones and smartphones, smartwatches, desktop computers and all-in-ones, servers, network attached storage, monitors, TV/LED/LCD displays, touchscreen displays, projectors, PA and audio systems, printers, scanners, shredders, UPS units, wireless internet and connectivity equipment, event registration technology, kiosks, stands and lecterns, whiteboards and flipcharts, virtual reality and augmented reality equipment, and accessories. ## Services - Managed IT services: helpdesk and desktop support, network setup and configuration, remote monitoring and management, security (endpoint protection, firewalls, phishing protection, patching, vulnerability assessment), backup and recovery, asset and licence management - Cloud and Microsoft 365: migration, licensing, tenancy management and support - Professional services: email migration, hardware procurement, software licence and asset management, resource management, VOIP telephone systems - IT consulting: network management, cloud computing, server management, VPN setup - Co-managed IT: working alongside an organisation's existing internal IT staff, with responsibilities split explicitly in writing MicroRentals works to the ACSC Essential Eight as a framework and can report against it.
